Inkjet Printing – A method of printing in which droplets of ink flow through computer-controlled nozzles directly onto the material. Blockader has three inkjet printers, especially suited for printing on vinyl or canvas. The inkjet printing process is ideal for small runs. - Find out more...

Pantone Color Matching System (PMS) – The color matching system developed by Pantone which has long been considered the standard for communicating color choices throughout the design or printing process. Colors are designated by a specific PMS number. The use of this common system ensures color consistency across different media and venues. - Find out more...

PDF – Portable Document Format. A file format developed by Adobe Systems which preserves fonts, images, graphics and layout of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. PDF documents can be viewed on any computer using Adobe Acrobat Reader of similar programs. Digital proofs of barrier jackets are sent to customers in the PDF format.

Raster Image – (Also called a bitmap image.) A computer image that is composed of tiny dots (pixels). Raster images cannot be scaled upward without a loss in quality. Silk Screen – A stencil method of printing in which a design is superimposed on a very fine mesh screen, through which the ink can be passed onto the jacket material. Ideal for applying logos and texts to jackets, this method keeps edges crisp, and color brilliant. - Find out more...

Substrate – Any material on which something is to be printed.

Vector Image – A specifically designed computer image in which lines are defined as a mathematical formula that can be resized to virtually any dimension without a loss in quality. Logos or artwork to be used on a jacket should be submitted in the vector file format.

hook and loop – A fastening tape consisting of a strip of nylon with a surface of minute hooks that fasten to a corresponding strip with a surface of uncut pile. Barrier jackets are fastened with hook and loop wraps, which are more secure than tabs or standard strips.
